The Dessert

Banoffee pie

By Forest GreenPublished about 22 hours ago • 1 min read

A crumbly crunch of buttery base,

golden and eager,

waiting for the magic to arrive.

Then—a slow, golden cascade,

thick and glossy,

a river of sweet, molten toffee

settling deep into the crust's embrace.

Slice upon slice of sun-ripened gold:

bananas, smiling softly,

nestled in the amber warmth,

breathing their tropical song into the air.

And on top—

oh, the grand coronation!

Clouds of whipped cream,

piled high like summer thunderheads,

kissed with the dark, bitter dust

of grated chocolate.

A silver spoon cuts through the chill,

diving past the fluffy white,

through the sweet fruit,

down to the rich, golden heart.

One bite,

and the world is a bright, singing thing.

Pure, unbridled joy,

served on a plate.
