A poem on grief

I felt the sky go grey the day you went away.

But the heaven's couldn't match my torrent of tears,

Nor replicate the roar that stripped my lungs.

I wish it hadn't been this way.

When you left, a piece of me went too,

For I have not known a life without you.

Colours seem different, and words lack meaning,

As I look to find some way to express such pain.

And well I know it is selfish of me to dream,

That you could have stayed in my frequency.

I could not wish you any more suffering,

As you held on to the life you'd known.

My hope is that you were not afraid to go,

And see what lies beyond us.

And that there were shining faces you once knew.

That one day I will come too.

All I really know is that Earth hasn't been the same,

Since the day you went away.
