The Day the Moon Fell into the Sea

Pollution drove the moon from the sky. Mother Earth however took it back home

The Day the Moon Fell into the Sea

The moon looked down upon the Earth,
One dark and lonely night.
The skies were filled with chemicals,
And nothing seemed quite right.

She watched the smoke rise higher,
And the stars begin to fade.
She wondered what had happened,
To the lovely world God made.

The moon had grown so weary,
She could not take much more.
So she jumped into the ocean,
Far away from her heavenly shore.

She landed with a mighty splash,
And frightened every fish.
A whale came swimming over,
To ask about her wish.

The moon said she was tired,
Of the pollution in the sky.
So she came to live beneath the sea,
And wished the stars goodbye.

But the ocean was no better,
There was rubbish everywhere.
And all the little sea creatures,
Were struggling to live down there.

A turtle swam up beside her,
With sadness in his eyes.
He told her of the suffering,
That the ocean could not disguise.

The moon began to cry that night,
As she lay beneath the sea.
She thought the ocean would be peaceful,
But it was not meant to be.

The dolphins tried to lift her,
The whales all gathered round.
But every time they pushed her up,
She came tumbling back down.

Then suddenly the waters parted,
And a mighty hand came through.
It was the hand of Mother Earth,
Who knew just what to do.

The moon looked up and whispered,
I thought the sea was right for me.
But I need to go back, Mother Earth,
To where you placed me, not the sea.

Mother Earth stretched out her arms,
And lifted the moon up high.
She placed her gently back again,
Among the stars in the sky.
