The Dark
The dark moves slowly across the room,
touching the corners where old memories stay,
and I feel its weight upon my shoulders,
pressing gently as if it knows my name.
It holds the silence in a steady breath,
waiting for the night to settle in,
and I walk through shadows without fear,
because some truths can only be found there.
The dark reminds me of what I lost,
yet it also lets me keep what matters,
and I stand within its quiet reach,
knowing it will never ask me to turn away.
It settles around me like an ancient comfort,
letting my thoughts fall into place again,
and the stillness whispers like an old friend,
telling me there is nothing to fear tonight.
In this gentle darkness I feel myself return,
finding a strength that daylight cannot touch,
and I breathe with a slower, calmer rhythm,
knowing the dark has carried me home
