Veni, Vidi, Vici

Veni, vidi, vici

I came, I saw, I conquered

But the high only lasted so long

I soon looked down

From the mountaintop and yearned

For the company that I had left behind

They say it’s awful lonely

At the top, a sad reality for those

Who have mastered the summit of life

But what is a victory

When celebrated alone

With no one else to witness it?

So I descended

The mountaintop and rejoined

The masses far below

Veni, vidi, vici

I came, I saw, I conquered

And returned to the place that I called home

Where I may toil harder

But at least

I’m not alone

I love this idea that you explored. Everyone is so keen to reach that mountain peak that they forget what's really important. This poem warmed my heart ❤️

  • I would love to go up with everyone so we can all celebrate together at the top! Loved your poem!

Better to have gone up there, and come back, though, right?
