THE COLOURS OF MY WORLD

Right there before my eyes

THE COLOURS OF MY WORLD

I threw my colours at the world,

And watched them come alive,

A thousand shades of happiness,

With dreams that would survive.

The red was full of passion,

The blue held all my tears,

The yellow brought the sunshine,

I'd been searching for through years.

The green spoke of tomorrow,

The pink of yesterday,

The orange held the memories,

That time had swept away.

And black stood there between them,

Like shadows in the night,

Holding all my colours,

And making them shine bright.

I never painted perfect lines,

Or skies that looked like blue,

I painted what was in my heart,

And feelings nobody knew.

And if you cannot understand,

The colours that you see,

Just know each stroke upon this canvas,

Is a little part of me.

Some colours hold a secret,

Some carry hidden pain,

Some dance amongst the sunshine,

While others cry with rain.

I painted all my laughter,

The dreams I couldn't keep,

The promises once whispered,

And the memories buried deep.

I let the colours wander,

Where words could never go,

For sometimes what we're feeling,

Is something we can't show.

And when the world grows silent,

And my painting's left behind,

Perhaps they'll see the colours,

Of the life I held inside.
