The Colouring Book

I once lived in a world devoid of colour, I couldn’t see the beauty of life, my ideas and perspective were gorged in a sickly black. One day I awoken to the same state of slumber, an unconscious blur with no fulfillment. That day, things seemed more bleak. Everything looked the same. But then I notice an object that was unlike any other, it stood out from the rest. It appeared to be a book of some sort. I opened the latch and experienced a world of true joy and freedom. I discovered something others take for granted. I discovered colour. I was mesmerized by the unapologetic liberty each tone invoked As I scanned through the first page and discovered what is called a rainbow. A rainbow is a gorgeous array of striking shades of glory. Each encompassing powerful messages. Pink let me know it’s okay to own your sexuality. Red expressed the feeling of the life I had been missing for eternity. Orange allowed me to grow from my past and heal. Yellow represented the sun and gave light to my new-found grace. Green displayed the sanctity of natural life, something I had forgotten all about. Turquoise embodied the power of art and self-expression. Indigo made me believe in possibly reaching peace. And finally, violet brought back my soul. With the rainbow restoring my being, the book turned the page back onto me. The power was left in my hands. With the strength of the rainbow I was able to colour in each page in the book. With No fear of judgment or hate. And that’s when I discovered my true potential. The rainbow communicated to me that we are meant to have pride in ourselves. And a world without colour is no world at all.
