A child living in solitude
Lying down in a field and awed by the sky and all of its magnitude
Images flash through her mind
of wondrous moments she’d like to freeze in time
Moments she has seen
playing out like a dream
Imagery she hoped she’d never forget
But where can they go if
locked in her head?
She pondered at times of how she was feeling
and wondered about life and all of it’s meaning
In her loneliness her friends would suddenly appear
Friends she created whom she held so dear
The story began with castles, knights and butterflies
Fields of red tulips and a dragon’s blue eyes
She and her friends together would explore
all there was in this imaginary world
Taking form from behind her eyes
Where everything imagined comes alive
She hurries home to give her creations an eternal life
as she sits at her desk and feverishly writes
The ink that strolls along the blank page
Begins to unravel all the details she’s saved
The ink presents the colors just right
As the words effortlessly flow and begin to take life
Fields of fluttery, blue butterflies
The ink takes on a power and begins to mesmerize
The ink and her journal of crisp blank pages
filled her life of solitude throughout her ages
Never alone did she ever feel
as the ink shaped her a world of
wonder and color that was very real
