The Colors Fairy

A poetry submission

Wouldn’t you like to imbue

your colors beyond

the mere near few?

And if you do...

Well, I don’t know if you knew,

but I am the colors fairy.

There are many of us,

opalescent, alabaster,

fiendish little creatures.

Possessed by color and colorful things,

we’ve become small but mighty preachers.

Whispering the gospel into the ears

of the young and the old

and those in tears,

depositing our wisdom

like little mirrors.

Please let them seep deeply,

they make the colors clearer.

The colors around us

have never gone away.

They come from you

and with you they’ll stay.

Right now it is May

and later it will be June.

Look up with me now

to the blue, blue moon.

Listen to my whispers

and see the prisms in your tears.

You’re bleeding color

right out of your ears.
