The Color Drainer
I thought I’d write this as I was sitting outside waiting for my dogs to dry off.

The wind grabbed hold of my hair
Throwing and slashing it into my face
As I stared up at the sky.
Sheilding my eyes
Its glow covered by the leaves cascading down from the wind.
Until suddenly it stops.
Clouds roll in, a stagnant tension eclipsed my skin
Goosebumps erupt one by one along my arms
My ears suddenly lose their niche.
I look out along the fallen rose bushes
The red slowly bleeding into brown
That’s when I see it.
My heart listens to my ears and stops to.
Color seems to be drained from my surroundings,
As I stare into the mouth of the only thing with color.
Red. Crimson, blood red.
And then I wake up.
About the Creator
Madolyn Sanchez
I love stringing random words together and making them sound like they should be together. I used to write a lot and I’m trying to get back into the rhythm of it.
