What really happened there that day?

THE COFFEE CUP EXPLODED

The coffee cup exploded,
Coffee went flying through the air,
The teapot and the kettle
Could do nothing but stare.

The teapot said, “My God,
Did I just witness that?”
The kettle said, “Don’t make a move,
Just sit there where you’re at.”

“But what can we do now?
What do I get to stir?”
The teaspoon lay there trembling,
Not knowing what occurred.

The kettle said, “Just stay right there,
Don’t move from where you are,
Because if the teapot breaks as well,
We’ve really gone too far.”

They couldn’t fathom what had happened,
Or what their eyes had seen,
But it really must have happened—
There was coffee on the owner’s jeans.

The white cat ended up coffee coloured,
And he didn’t like that one bit,
He looked down at his dripping paws
And nearly had a fit.

He shook himself across the kitchen,
Coffee splattered on the wall,
The kettle shouted, “STOP THAT CAT!”
But he didn’t stop at all.

The parrot watched the madness,
Then gave a little squawk,
He looked towards the broken cup
As though the thing could talk.

“Ooh, hang on a bit!
The cat’s gone brown, the cup is broke,
There’s coffee everywhere!”
Then the parrot flapped his wings
And nearly fell off his chair.

The teapot and the kettle
Could only sit and stare,
While one poor lonely teaspoon
Lay drowning over there.

Nobody knows what caused it,
Nobody knows to this day,
But if your coffee cup starts trembling
I’d put the bloody thing away.
