The Cat's Pajamas
A cozy relationship poem
Can I trust you?
Be my biggest messiest
Knowing you'll exhale —
Not blame me
Make me think I'm too much —
But being clear and loving in your boundaries,
And you do self-care?
~
Can I trust that I can be,
And you'll adult your way around,
Using your heart words and giraffe ears?
~
If we can trust
Let these lego walls down
Come out from behind the couch
Open ears and be people,
In the face of —
~
Kindness realm
There is an edge
Fertile, ready for growth —
Meet you there?
Leaning into ourselves and each other
Knowing our patterning and not-self faces
Breaking up dramarama lama patterning
Coming up to be cleared
~
Curled up on the couch
Cozy cats in cute pajamas
Rainbow and pink camo,
Your painted toes rubbing my tattoo
Cherry blossoms swirl, sun-faded
Familiar, easy, fun
~
Bump my cup
And I find I am kind,
No fermented ick inside
To hide —
No black box behind our eyes, anyway,
But I wasn't sure.
~
Finding a home in myself,
Fit for human consumption
Ahem...
Fit for girlfriend,
Fit for me,
Fit for me to be kind to me —
(I mean, of course all that ick came from all the un-kind words I said to myself, but, still...)
~
Meet me in the space between you and me
Dance barefoot with me in the moonlight
Be middle-aged with me
As we hurtle through space,
Together, being cute.
The cat's pajamas —
And my hand on your thigh.
