“Stay here,” Velvet commanded, leaping onto the windowsill. The squirrel froze, its beady eyes darting between Velvet and Moose. “I could scare it away,” Moose offered, his tail wagging.

“No,” Velvet hissed. “Stay.” Moose obeyed, his muscles quivering with anticipation. Velvet crouched low, her eyes locked on the squirrel. For a moment, it seemed as though she might pounce. But then the squirrel darted away, disappearing into the branches of a nearby tree.

Velvet sighed and turned to Moose. “You see? Patience is key.” Moose tilted his head. “But it got away.” “Not everything is about catching,” Velvet replied. “Sometimes it’s about the chase.” Moose considered this, his brow furrowing.
