The Cartographer of Lost Places

portraying a man who feels misplaced in the landscape of his own life. He searches for a sense of belonging and direction, but finds himself adrift in a world that feels increasingly alien.

He walks a city paved in fractured dreams,

each crack a whispered echo of his name,

though none who call it truly know the seams

that bind his soul, the origin of flame.

----------------------------------------

He’s a cartographer of lost places,

mapping the contours of his own despair,

tracing the hollows in familiar faces,

searching for landmarks, something to repair.

-------------------------------------------------------

The buildings loom like giants, cold and gray,

their windows glinting with a distant sun,

reflecting back the shadows of the day,

a battle fought, a victory never won.

-------------------------------------------------

He feels the earth shift subtly beneath,

a tremor born of something he can't place,

like standing on a shore, teeth tight, in sheathe,

while the ocean whispers secrets in his face.

---------------------------------------------------

His compass spins, a fevered, frantic dance,

no north, no south, no guiding, steady hand,

just the relentless, echoing expanse,

of a life unmoored in shifting sand.

----------------------------------------------------

He longs to root, to feel the soil embrace,

to find a haven in this alien scene,

but every path leads back to this lost space,

where even memory feels cold and mean.

--------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps, he thinks, the map is incomplete,

perhaps the legend holds a hidden key,

to charting solace, finding bitter sweet,

and finally setting his own spirit free.
