The Building Blocks Of You

Carry their loads upon thy shoulders

Keep them unto oneself

Rest with them, embraced by your being

Never be quick to put them on a shelf

For they make you what you are, and that's power to behold

Breathe them in deeply and revel in their stench

Each comes with a different odor so delicious

Be not one who resists them as they come to you

Wrap your arms around them and hold onto them with might

For they make each little part of you something to behold

Fear them not as so many choose to approach them timidly

For they cannot be the bringers of war, pain, and suffering to thee

Breathe them up, like one smelling the roses on a bright sunny day

And wrap your arms around them in the tightest, maddest of embrace

For without them you are, and will forever be, living in the nothing

Scary they are as they howl around your head, desperate to get to you

But reach for them and hold them tightly to your bosom

Grasp each and every one as if they were but your children

Never forsaking them, always holding them in your arms, in a mad embrace

For they will take you far, if it is a maturity that you stop and behold

They are you, whether you fight them or you surrender to their power

Walking the middle ground is your righteous path to take

Let not the worst of them turn you bitter, ugly, and sour

And remember they are not something to simply forsake

For they are something to behold, that thing separating us from the beasts

What do you hold onto that doesn't always feel so well inside

The very things that give you both the power of good and of darkness

Embrace them you shall, with all your righteous might

And let them not solely determine the aim of your will

For they are you, in every sense, and deserve to be embraced, and controlled
