the brightest darkness

the girl who became a shooting star

By Ariana SandersPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

turn black girls into magic

turn black boys into myth

and ain’t that the purpose of pixie dust

same properties of gun powder

make it fly

make me disappear

my body sinks into the ground

my soul shoots into the sky

like glitter

like stars

like even when i’m gone i’ll still be beautiful

still be remembered

know my quiet is louder than any gunshot

louder than any protest

i’m the brightest darkness you’ve ever seen

because even when i’m gone, i still sparkle

don’t you know even the darkest things

shine

surreal poetry
