The Boy Never Sleeps

After the toddler years, the boy barely slept. Instead he was up and trying to drag you out of bed.

The boy never sleeps!

Always ready to go.

Always ready to play.

***

He fights sleep,

rubs his eyes,

but never stays

under the cover

or in the realm

of sleep.

***

The never lets you sleep!

Always waking you up.

Always tugging you out

of your bed,

early in the morning

when sleep is all you want.

***

No rest for weekdays.

No rest for the weekends.

***

That’s my kiddo:

live for the day

and through the night.

***

Sleep is a sin

for the boy.

Don't bother

to say otherwise.

***

Sleep is something

not in his limited

vocabulary.

***

So nobody sleeps

while he’s running about.

Nobody sleeps

while he’s on

his nightly prowl.

***

Through the night.

Through the day.

The boy never sleeps.

And neither do we.
