the boogeyman.

the boogeyman is real.

(i do not own any rights to this photo)

the boogeyman comes knocking at my door in the dead of night

i bury myself under plush pillows and blankets to hide my cries

i don't want to let him in, but he forces his entry

sitting down next to me, he pats me gently

he calmly whispers for me to come out of hiding

my frail body jolts at the flash of lightning

eyes clenched shut, i count to ten and pray

that's what mommy said so he'll go away

paralyzed by fear and caught by surprise

the boogeyman hovering over me with hungry eyes

and i'm still afraid of the dark...
