The Body Within the Word

A Word Becomes Ritual

Last night, I thought about beginning a personal creative writing project where I think of a random writing prompt, using the first word that comes to mind...no overthinking, no grammar rules; just a simple impression from within. This exercise loosens the rigidity of the writing intensive, scholarly-type pieces I typically produce and allows me to freely showcase dimensions of my creative writing abilities, as well.

So here it goes...☺️

The first word that scurried from the pen was 'Petunia'. Ahh, PETUNIA!! How lovely! It felt bold and liturgical.

Now, beyond the accepted definition or contextual meaning of the word, my only goal was to write about its liturgical qualities and how it made me feel once spoken.

I quietly asked myself, "Where do I feel its resonance? How does it move from the throat to the mouth and out into the atmosphere? Where do I feel it in my chakras? What is happening on a somatic level?"

I expanded it phonetically in three different ways: petunia, pu-tooon-yuh, and pa-toon-ya. After vocalizing them one-by-one, I sat quietly, processing the essences each had to share and quickly noticed how each resonance activated parts of the physical and energetic bodies:

Petunia - the heart, brow, and throat

Pu-tooon-yu - in the heart, throat, and solar plexus, and

Pa-toon-ya - in the brow, heart, and sacral.

Then, I was moved to write this poem:

Petunia

Soft-footed petal, prune thine heart

In-dee-go into the crown

Fifty shades of me

From brow to throat, thy sacral’s hand

Pa-toon-ya, a triad encountered with precision

Her secret resonance becomes frequency of Being

Asé

Amazing! My petunia piece had now blossomed into a liturgical jewel — compact, but carrying a full ritual circuit. I realized that what I’ve written is not simply an impromptu poem; it is a resonance‑map, a phonetic invocation, a micro‑rite where each line performs a specific energetic function.

“Petunia” — the Naming of the Being

"Soft-footed petal, prune thine heart” — Heart‑Chamber Surgery

“In-dee-go into the crown” — Chromatic Ascent

“Fifty shades of me” — Multiplicity of Self

“From brow to throat, thy sacral’s hand” — Triadic Choreography

“Pa-toon-ya, a triad encountered with precision” — The Alternate Body

“Her secret resonance becomes frequency of Being” — Ontological Seal

A short, impromptu writing exercise evolved into a map that revealed what my Sacred Self embodies, a True expression of the LIGHT that is within. 🌸 And So it Is 🌸
