The Body That Remembered Dance
It left me wanting to dance again, for the rest of my life

The Body That Remembered Dance
I slipped beneath thought without warning
This memory had been waiting for years
and finally found the opening to return
The room I knew dissolved
replaced by stone warmed through time
a place not imagined, only re-entered
My feet touched a floor that felt familiar
not by sight, by recognition in the bones
It was crossed it before my birth in this life
I was not told who I was
I simply became aware of what already existed
A dancer
Not for eyes of others
not for applause or witness
movement as language older than speech
Each step rose without effort
each turn arrived as certainty
My body had been waiting alifetime to tell its truth
The air responded, shifting around motion
holding space the way water holds light
There was no question in me
only continuity
as though nothing had ever interrupted this knowing
Then it began to fade
receding like tide returning to deeper ground
I came back slowly
carrying something wordless in my chest
my past life revisited today
something I’ll never let fade away
