The Blind Woman Who Saw My Future
She couldn’t see the world but feel everything

The Blind Woman Who Saw My Future
The blind woman had no eyes,
But she saw deep in my soul,
She knew all the things I’d gone through,
And the things I’d go through more,
She saw the spirits walking,
Amongst the living and the dead,
But yet she had no eyes,
The pictures came inside her head.
She’d hold your hand with a vacant stare,
And within a moment or two,
That woman knew what was round the corner,
And what was waiting there for you,
Sometimes her stories chilled you,
They chilled you to the bone,
But she was always truthful,
And always delivered the truth home.
When she held my hand that morning,
She gave a little smile,
She said my dear you’ll be happy,
But only for a short while,
You’ll marry probably for love,
But love will turn to stone,
And though you’ll share a thousand nights,
You’ll find yourself alone.
You’ll hear those words I love you,
But words can fade away,
And promises made beneath the stars,
Can die another day,
I looked upon her empty eyes,
And felt a sudden chill,
For though she couldn’t see my face,
She knew my future still.
She said my dear don’t tremble,
For sorrow has its place,
And every tear you’ve ever cried,
Has left something upon your face,
But there are things I cannot tell,
And things you shouldn’t know,
For knowing all tomorrow brings,
Can steal the joys as you grow.
I asked her if she’d seen my death,
She slowly bowed her head,
Then whispered child I see much more,
I see beyond the dead,
I see the souls that wander,
Between the earth and sky,
The ones who never said farewell,
The ones who cannot die.
I see a child beside your door,
A woman dressed in white,
A thousand faces watching you,
As you lie asleep at night,
But don’t be frightened of them,
For not all spirits bring you fear,
Some are simply those you’ve loved,
Who wish that they were near.
But I wasn’t satisfied with this,
The fear was making me tremble,
I said please don’t leave it just like that,
There’s so much I need to know,
Will I have a happy life,
Will I live for many years,
Or will my days be filled with sorrow,
And my nights be filled with tears.
I want a long and happy life,
Without trouble at my door,
I want to know that happiness,
Is something I’ve got in store,
For all I want is to believe in God,
And let Him lead the way,
But somehow your eyes are frightening,
And showing me a different day.
She turned around and gave a smile,
Stood up and walked away,
And I guess I’ll never really know,
What comes in my future days,
She never gave me answers,
To the questions in my mind,
She simply left me standing there,
With all my fears behind.
So now she’s gone and here I stand,
I live in constant fear,
Every knock upon my door,
Makes me wonder if death is near,
And every face I look upon,
I worry is this the day,
That I will close my eyes to sleep,
And my life will slip away.
I want to live forever,
I want to make a stand,
I really really wish,
I’d never held that woman’s hand,
I wish I’d let her walk on by,
Never spoken that day,
For perhaps she’d never noticed me,
And simply gone her way.
But fate it took a funny twist,
And brought her close to me,
Two strangers joined together,
By a strange uncertainty,
And now I spend my living days,
Afraid of what might be,
For the woman who had no eyes,
Saw far too much of me.
