The Blame Game
slam poem about SA and the status quo

A man rapes a corpse in a forest...
Is that corpse the one to blame?
No?
Can you tell me why then,
A living, breathing woman
Is less believable in the mortal plane?
/
And yet you ask us,
Why we would choose the bear?
When you have so clearly,
Proven that you are a predator,
Who stalks, hunts, and snares,
Who can do so much worse than maim us,
Who can shame, terrorize, and violate us,
Who can leave us soulless without care.
/
The audacity of men to say,
"Oh, I don't want to hear about that."
Like I gave him a fucking choice,
When talking about those rapists from the frat.
I don't give a fuck if you don't want to hear it...
Because if you are going to force women to bear it,
The weight of your bruised ego, your sexual frustration,
Your anger at feminists for wanting validation,
I'm going to force you to swallow my condemnation,
And lick up every drop of my rage and indignation.
/
There's a lot of power in holding a knife,
To the throats of the institutions cowering from the mob.
The only essay I'd force you to write,
Is your own will and testament, in the blood of your severed cock.
Oh, is that going too far for you?
I don't know, is too far to rape a woman for seven hours,
Beat her, degrade her, drug her, berate her,
Claim she was a slut when she dared to report her attackers?
Was it too far to expect a university,
To value justice over a patriarchal order?
Was it too far past the status quo,
To seek repercussions beyond violating a code of honor?
/
If you can't even be a man and call the authorities,
When you expect other men of committing atrocities,
What's the point of these boys clubs, these so called fraternities,
When they've become on-campus rapist academies?
If the law won't contain you and keep you from offending,
It really turns into a game of women protecting women...
And if that means resorting to violence,
Then consider the war commenced and the battlelines submitted.
