A book written for the world, not read by many.

One chapter about the fold, one about the glee.

It starts with,

the little fires under my skin & the dances with Molly

Then, you’ll see,

the pit I lay in as the days that follow trap me in.

As the story goes in circle, I read and re-read,

Searching for meaning.

Five stars reviews, « so bold, so brave »,

I'm still dissatisfied, they say it might not sell.

I try to rewrite, fix it, but what is typed is typed,

There is no undoing.

So I close the book.

Set in on the table and stare at it.

Its spine is terribly worn, and weary of the next obsessive read.

Its spine is fatigued and worn, yet still, it holds, unbroken.

Ten years on, this is chapter three.

The reader keeps on meddling with his own story.

The more creases he causes, the more people want to read.

Something so damaged must be captivating,

« Here are the scars, let’s examine this »

Truth be told, the story line has shifted.

Some parts are highlighted, some annotated with a pencil.

At last, one line reveals the brain is flawed,

So the backbone is curved because this mind is wobbly.

The twist is here.

There has always been something more, one more disease,

Added for the suspense of it all,

Shaking is involved and so is Lamotrigine.

These days, the body can’t help but show the struggle within.

Its spine is fatigued and worn, yet still, it holds, unbroken.

Chapter after chapter, mania after lows,

The va-et-viens of my brain

Do crak my mind sometimes.

But the medecine I take, is a precious cane

That keeps my backbone strong and my skeleton straight.

Against all odds, as my story unfolds pages after pages,

And in spite of it all, I see my mind stays unafraid.

Reader, I’ve been telling you, my spirit is strong,

Although, the fall might have sold more,

It keeps rising when my body loses its balance.

Its spine is fatigued and worn, yet still, it holds, unbroken.

So, at the end, the climax falls flat,

Readers and jurors disappointed,

Because my brain has always toyed with my fate, and my life has been great.
