The Best of June
For Mike's unofficial June challenge

June means kids are free from school.
Days are warmer, nights still cool.
So many options the month of June,
Especially on a pleasant afternoon.
*
A trip to water—a lake or river.
That first chilly step may cause a shiver.
Never mind, your body will adapt.
There's too much fun waiting to be tapped.
*
Jumping from an old rope swing,
Or floating on devices, if that's your thing.
Swimming, racing, boating too,
Many entertaining options to do.
*
Stop and have a picnic snack,
Eating from a worn backpack.
Back to the water— minnows to catch.
Just how many can we snatch?
*
Back home, sprinklers generate giggles.
While parents view the happy wiggles.
Later, fireflies glow like mini stars,
Momentarily captured as lantern jars.
*
Top it with an ice-cream treat.
Any flavor, as long as it's sweet.
A hard day of fun, it's time to rest.
June excursions are certainly best.
