Could this not be the best of all worlds?
It's almost accepted now that it isn't.
Pestilential wildfires sweep the globe
Zealots force stillbirth and distrust amidst wars
And throughout, acceptance that we are in a
timeline which should be aborted does us no favors
A proper sense of beauty isn't about acceptance
The sapping of creativity, encouragement of ennui, stilting of action
It's about confronting the darkness, with ephemera perhaps
but also by challenging the zeitgeist of society
Declaring this isn't right and acknowledging what should come next
Lighting the way against ignorance no matter the oppression
Acknowledging our agency and power
Organizing to battle our individual weakness
And striving to reveal that all isn't lost
as beauty is found and inspires
If we throw off the shackles of hopelessness
We can each provide hope, lighting the way for weary travelers
Not in refuge from all that exists
But as an open wellspring so others may blossom
Being candles in the dark
Sparkling, shimmering, dancing, oblivious
Yearning to live and flourish and burn
Let us be bonfires for each other and blaze
until our collective glare brightens the path for all
What could give greater comfort
Than knowing we help others
And can be loved and helped in turn
