It began with a message from lightyears away,

Our planet’s best and brightest left to discern,

Left to discover, what does it say?

We come in peace, no need for concern.

The crafts arrived on Tuesday night,

Riots and protests lit the streets.

A flash of light blinding to sight,

Silly humans, take your seats.

Shown their fate—telepathic link,

Evolution of life—millions of years.

A new way to live, new way to think.

Evolution of us, ending our fears.

They asked to be shown what makes us laugh.

We have no concept of humorous things.

A giggling baby splashes in bath.

Still confusing, these human beings.

The funniest comedians of humanity,

They perform for days on end.

We seem to them; lost of sanity.

What explanation can we send?

There can be no laughter without sadness,

The balancing opposite of juxtaposition.

The mourning medicine becomes gladness.

The beings nod with recognition.

The crafts left on Saturday night.

Grateful for our human explanation.

As our planet explodes in fiery light,

The aliens feel our laughter sensation.
