The Beginning of the End

Who needs happily ever after?

All around me I see

Brides glowing in white,

Cheerful and proud,

Dancing their cares away,

Even if just for one night.

Forever is what they both promised;

Good luck keeping it.

Heaven knows that boredom sets

In and a hot temptation calls to

Jump into bed with and be wild,

Killing almost all hope of recovering

Love that was once shared.

Marriage seems to stifle people,

Never leaving them enough room

Or freedom to stay independent.

Perhaps the joining of two souls

Quietly takes their individuality,

Rips them to pieces,

Strips them completely, and

Throws it all into a furious fire.

Understanding one another is

Very hard in these changing times

When everyone is on their last nerve.

Xanax is the calming drug

Your doctor prescribes to stop the

Zelophobia. Who needs happily ever after?

Thoroughly enjoyed this, Alex! "Zelophobia" was a new word for me :)
