The Beauty That Surrounds Us

A Reflection between nature and human beings

A Wildflower Meadow

Cascades of colored hues undulate the mountain side

Abundant star-shaped blue and white Columbine flowers

Arching stems nod gracefully far and wide.

Laden with outer sepals of elongated spurred tipped towers

Like five Doves dancing in the breeze.

Delicate white inner petals seize,

Bushy-yellowed centers glistening in the sun.

Streams of light shining on each one.

Waiting for long-tongued insects and birds

to relieve them of their nectar worth.

Every bud is in the game to tease

To rid the pollen away in the breeze,

Nodding pink bonnets out to impress everyone

Each stem perfectly carries a bundle of fun.

Nectar-filled spurs from every nuance of hill

large, showy lace petal frills.

Ruby-throated hummingbirds return

Butterflies and bumblebees earn their fill.

Delicate wings fly without concern

Flowers nod and bow to their trill.

I sit and stare at them for hours

Buzzing creatures from flower to flower.

Elegant silk translucent wings

Intricate opalescent colored rings,

Like exquisite stained-glass windows.

Drunken insects rise on wobbly legs

Stumbling from their sudden weights.

Fluttering iridescent yellow and pink heads,

sheen in the sunlight palettes.

The splendour of a lone rose.

Exquisite, plump layers held by thorny straight rows.

A cluster of virtuous Lilies with six-petal segments

Radiant and glorious stamens.

Their presence do not stifle it,

From the perfume of the violet,

Or the simplicity of the daisy,

Growing nearby.

A sea of harmony of flowers

If all plants wanted to be roses, nature would lose its beauty and the fields would no longer be adorned with different hues of wildflowers.

Humans could learn so much from nature.

Know that every creation matters.

Everyone has a voice.

Nobody should have the power to silence anybody.
