The Beast Within

As we ponder our thoughts,

Our soul slowly rots,

Not being awake as they say,

Never to see the light of day.

No one knows what lies in wake,

As the light at the end of the tunnel now seems fake.

We seek out help as they say,

No one truly knows what we display.

Whether it be displays of affection, anger or sadness,

No one seems to seek past the madness.

We are trapped within our own minds,

And, well, sometimes we find clarity,

But, that is also scarce you see,

Will be ever set free?

Set free from what you ask?

The beast that we tried to free from our pasts,

We have asked but not received,

For this beast within has not been set free.

What does this beast within entail you ask?

This beast from within is from our pasts,

It's made out of greed, anger, despair and manipulation,

Keeping it within you is its only stipulation.

Manifesting, as well as growing,

Its eyes are glowing with self-sabotage and resentment,

It almost makes you comply with it being a part of you,

The part you hate the most about you.

The beast within has taken full control,

Eating the part of your soul that you adored.

The beast within is no longer ignored.
