The beach that swallowed everything

Went down to the sand

Looked but there was nothing around

Seemed like something profound

Kept wandering around

Nothing could be found

Then I thought I heard a strange sound

Went down closer to edge

Looked over the hedge

Out to sea I couldn't see

Appearing on the beach but seemed out of reach

Maybe this event had something to teach

Or it was some strange breach

I didn't see any people

Except for a shadow that I followed

It seemed like something hollow

Then everything disappeared and it was like a place of sorrow

I wonder if the same thing would happen again tomorrow

Certainly seemed like a strange thing

Such was the beach that swallowed everything
