Abaci couldn’t track my finances,

But the

Creditors still find me.

Debt dictates my decisions when

Everything is overdue.

“Free” comes when I’m stuck: legal advice, relief aid, food pantries. But

Getting fully unstuck will cost.

Hidden aporophobia ensures poverty sticks.

If the poor are taxed, fined, and overcharged

Just for being poor, then upward mobility becomes a myth.

Killing us slowly works, too. Healthcare

Lacks priority in this country for many reasons.

Violence against the marginalized falls along class lines, but intersections

Will show you the roots if you follow them. An

X-ray view of our lives reveals the intentionality behind the

Yoke around our necks.

Zoning draws imaginary lines separating like-minds to prevent any change.

I am a non-binary, trans-masc writer. I work to dismantle internalized structures of oppression, such as the gender binary, class, and race. My writing is personal but anecdotally points to a larger political picture of systemic injustice.
