That Comfort Place
by: T Nicholas Tucker
That comfort place
Sun-streaked sky
And blue on waves of blue
A kite to catch the eye
Bright sounds of laughter too
Gulls that shriek and dip a wing
Crusted crabs are scrambling
Days of warmth and grace
in that comfort place
Hazy sand
Mirages sway and dance
Boards bobbing bravely
Awaiting their next chance
Umbrellas that reflect the sun
Footsteps leading one by one
The timeless tides erase
in that comfort place
Fingers twined
We lay a blanket nest
Energies unwind
And breezes call to rest
The surf sings lullaby to ears
A music that the world reveres
Each note a lazy pace
in that comfort place
At world’s end
The Star begins to sink
Colors mingle artfully
With darkness on the brink
A lovely lapse of memory
Adrift upon an endless sea
A season to embrace
in that comfort place

Although our stories may be different, ultimately, they are testimonies to the trials we have endured, the vistas we have seen, the roads we have walked and the people we have known.
