The Earth has many textures

In Spring, the tender leaf is soft

In Fall, it is colorful and brittle

The stones in the fields

Can be smooth enough to make a comfortable seat

Or sharp enough to pierce the skin

Some trees have bark that is smooth

Like an American Birch

Or scaled and rough

Like an Oak

The path is sometimes made of dirt

Dusty and gentle

Or pavement that is rigid and solid

The walk I take is full of patterns

Some made by nature

Some made by man

The Earth is always giving me life

No matter the season
