Terraqueous

The Ups and Downs Along the Way

By Gerard DiLeoPublished 5 months ago 1 min read
Three steps forward, two steps backward.

Genus and species, Terraqueous attaineous

Walked the land and stream before and were us

Nascent limbs shuffle along

.

Primieval seas engender the fate

Allowing chemistry to sublimate

Until the dexterous bang a gong

.

We fight the entropy to rise above

The fists that force the hand-in-glove

Stepping back to right the wrong

.

Imperfection is two steps back

For every three we duly track

And stay on task, body weak, but headstrong

.

We thus allow ourselves to croon

With chords and cords warbling out of tune

Still, we choke our throats to sing our song
