Tectonics after Night Terrors

A sonnet of despair and shadows

I kept a dreaming feeling in my heart,

While all the facts encouraged me to grieve.

How could they ever dream I would depart,

What madness made them think that I could leave?

And yet the grindstone sparks are wont to fly,

(Despite my will to change and unimpede,)

So that a careless saying by and by,

Devolves the day with flabbergasting speed.

A fearsome gap of shadows twixt us falls

While they an avalanche of pain entrap.

Apologies and honesty and all,

Doth merely add more blackness to the gap.

That thus I wish my woeful soul to part

and disappear into the darkling gap.
