Color is ever-present, constant, deliberate ; expressing memories, energies, and moments in time, displays the hues of humanity, universally entering our being in undulating waves.
Red is fiery hunger that lingers in a lover's blush, the hue of sweet cherries gushing. The palpitations of my heart beating to the warmth of simply being. Red is my life.
Orange tangoes into my steps as music notes float merrily. It paints the town in festive hues of papaya and peach, turning her deep brown eyes to honey. Orange is my energy.
Yellow is new, bright as a drop of citrine encased in gold. It sparkles in daffodils, daisies and dandelions galore, a filtered light through my stained glass door. The child-like joy of holding onto my dandelion wish. Yellow is my vitality.
Green only grows. A constant force of change. Smashing through concrete, eating up stone. It is to be nurtured and grown. Ever-present, tenacious and ever-green, I am a force unmatched, never-before seen. Green is my nature.
Blue, the deepest of hues, loves to ebb and flow from the sky to the inky indigo. It enchants and swirls over me like diatom blooms in the deep, glowing in waves of azure, cerulean and cyan. Blue is deep calm and knowledge, flowing into the passages I created. Blue is my harmony.
Purple is the authenticity in daring to be myself. Unapologetic and magnetic. As romantic as the violet, as resilient as the pansy, purple is the beauty of life and harmony entwined within me. Purple is my spirit.
Life is a technicolor miracle. I intend to live on its wavelength as I was meant to be. Me.

Followed by a Moonshadow
Moonshadow entered my life in the midst of a traumatic pandemic. I was lonely, and looking for my first furry friend as an adult. My family hadn't had a cat in three years, and after discussing with my dad, my mom and I finally convinced him to let a cat into our lives once again. So, I went looking for my cat. It wasn't easy. Cats were popular in these days of quarantine, and I wanted to find a cat that could spend years with me happily. A few weeks later, the rescue shelter called me and recommended a stout and tiny black cat with a white patch on her belly named Big Shadow. She follows the foster family around, like her namesake, and she was mother to three kittens. My witchy senses tingled and knew that this was my cat. The foster family was kind to discuss her demeanour with me, and next thing you know, I was picking her up to bring her home. From the first day, she was curious about her surroundings and eager to connect with me. We were soon fast friends. While I was researching how to adopt her, the song "Moonshadow" by Cat Stevens played, and I thought that would be the perfect name for her. She does follow me around like a Moonshadow. Staying at home from work also allowed me to forge a strong connection with her, and I soon became her chosen human.

To Give Your Last Twenty
He walks oddly, shuffling and nearly tripping down the hallway toward his apartment door. I slow my pace, allowing my neighbor— a stuffy ex-marine with one missing tooth and a strong odor of liquor and two weeks' worth of unwashed stench always accompanying him—to reach his door. I crinkle my nose, nearly gagging as he dawdles ahead.
