Tears in the Darkness

The Dying of Light

Tears in the Darkness

Am I to faint when seeing nightfall,

With its cloaks of darkness that cover us all.

Where did the light lose its power I wonder,

As it did yesterday, its domain fell asunder.

Like tiger’s claws as sharp as daggers,

The night rips at the light causing it to stagger.

But eons have proven there is only one that remains,

The titans take their stance, and each evening it’s the same.

Evening’s skies are awash in colors of the fight,

Red, yellow, blue, and gold display the conflict each night.

Red skies in the morning, sailors take warning,

Red skies at night, sailor’s delight, sail on until morning.

It’s the fables we cling to during our lives,

That offers some explanations for the colors in the skies.

I keep my thoughts to myself about this heavenly display,

How and why the skies turn from blue to red to gray.

It’s unique to our world, this battle between darkness and light,

That causes the colors to change all through the long night.

So look up to see what is being shown to you,

The tears of the darkness that is fought for us to view.
