Talking to Paul’s Reflection
Paul’s Unofficial Remix Challenge, brought to you by Wave 108, Capital LOVE FM.
dismayed at mirror reflection
manipulated by my minds fragility
as pen hits the paper
and ink hits the page
oh how it burns
deep inside
when did you last laugh until you cried?
.
emotional warmth and softness
have been replaced
with sharp, rough edges,
quiet moments of introspection
grating sound in mind
noxious notions of what could be
plague me…. nightly
.
lulling you off to sleep
revolves around
hard, tough love
cradling my self worth
fading facade, no feelings
irritability scratching at my skin
kitchen knife shining, drawing me in
.
when did you last see the sea?
when did you last feel the breeze?
immerse yourself deep in water
the slight of touch
the gentle smoothness
only then will you feel free,
not to mention, happy
.
All lines from this Poetry Remix are Paul Stewart’s, using lines from each of his 5 poems given in the challenge. Check it out below 👇
Just for you Paul - I thought I’d show my working process 😉
I wanted to use every line from all your poems - but there is not a single other set of rhyming words left and you know how I need rhymes in my poems 😅
Which is a shame because I definitely could have continued!! Looking forward to your joy at seeing your read count going up, cough cough 😂

Brilliantly smashed together!! You really wove those lines together so seamlessly. And I love, love, love that you included the pics of your process!! What a fine entry into Paul's challenge :)
Wow! Such an amazing effort!
Kayleigh, this is amazing! I’m so glad you drew on all five poems for this. I briefly considered doing something similar, but fortunately I’m lazy. Great work!
Lines from all 5 of the poems? Well-played. And so nicely woven together.
This is a really cool idea from Paul! I loved this, at this line "when did you last see the sea?" I shivered, a reminder that we only have so much time and we cant take it for granted.
Bahahaha this was so cool and funny! I remember many of these lines and I haven’t even checked out his challenge as yet! You’ve brought it all together very well though Kayleigh! 😊👏
Brilliant work Kayleigh!
My goodness...this is epic and I am so glad you took part and that I went ahead with this idea. Like really...bowled over already, and we're just one entry in. Thank you, Kayleigh. This really did flow so beautifully, as Dharrsh said. Well done, you lil genius you! :)
Whoaaaa, you used lines from all 5 of his poems! You're incredibly talented! Your poem had such a smooth flow to it and was so beautifully put together! Gosh I love it so much!
