Tales of Torment: Slumber’s Absence

Insomnia's curse; I'm free of nightmares, but at the cost of my dreams.

slumber's absence has left me without a dream

tossed to and fro by a restless stream

maybe i can't afford the cost to dream

lost in silk sheets, i can only wish to lay breathless

instead i lay sick and deathless,

my eyes, restless

i can only believe that peace has chosen to forsake me

if only slumber would take me

don't leave me dreamless-

with every blink, sleep continues to bait me

slumber's absence is torment, deep and seamless

under moon's curse i sink into abyss,

i know the sun will wait for me

under the sun, the days delight in my suffering

this is not a war to be won, there are no ways to fight for myself,

to save myself from darkness' covering

for only one left there is no one coming

i am left, alone and dreamless-

slumber's absence is torment, with no end- seamless

for what sin must i atone that slumber will not take me

my eyes will forever remain open under both sun and moon

against slumber's absence, there is no win to congratulate me,

only a losing battle down a restless river

i am left helpless, tossed to and fro by a restless stream

slumber's absence has left me without a dream
