Taking the Bullet for Someone Else’s Crime

Now there’s no way out for me

Taking the Bullet for Someone Else’s Crime

I took the bullet for your crime

The scraps you dropped beside the floor,

You walked away with clean hands raised,

While I was blamed for something more.

The crowd believed the tale you spun,

Each whispered lie became a chain,

You watched me carry all the weight,

And never once stepped in again.

The doors were closed before my face,

The verdict written long before,

I paid the debt that wasn’t mine,

While you stepped through another door.

The nights grew longer than the days,

Questions echoed through my head,

Why sacrifice for someone else,

Who left me wounded there instead?

The truth sat buried deep beneath,

Layers of fear and selfish pride,

The kind that lets an innocent fall,

While guilt finds somewhere else to hide.

Years moved onward without pause,

The scars remained beneath my skin,

A reminder of the cost we pay,

For trusting those who never give.

Yet time reveals what darkness hides,

And secrets struggle to survive,

The lies began to crack apart,

As buried truths came back alive.

I took the bullet for your crime,

Though justice wandered far from view,

The wound remains a lesson learned,

Never again for one like you.
