Taking Space

A crown cinquain poem about how self care is so important for my health

By Talia DevoraPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read
“Reserved” acrylic abstract painting completed on December 9 2021

Self-care

is medicine

for my leaky pneuma

breathing, sleeping, resting

alone.

Times of

retirement to sit

and reflect on each days of the

brief weeks.

My eyes

are locked up so

tight that I can’t access

any of my sad, mental

images.

My ears

can’t hear any

deafening, disturbing

noise of war, turmoil, torture and

abuse.

My psyche

is healing like

fast magic that happens in one

hushed night.
