surreal poetry

Awakening
Color becomes location becomes orientation becomes identity. Eyes are squeezed tightly shut even while open to clamor with the multi-vision of a dream awake. Forgotten and in loneliness, a colorful disco-ball radiates sideways and upside down. Schizophrenia is the only truth for this mirror that is called broken for the simple fact that there is nothing flat about it. Its colors search in all directions, hoping to break through the death of the day walk that it has known. Any color might have been the one, but it is of the near-invisible shades that reach the enveloping arms of torrential color that blinds the living death.

Good But Never Good Enough
Beauty is supposed to be in the eye of the beholder, but society dictates the beholder’s vision. We’ve blurred the lines of normalcy and experimental. To be beautiful, you must fix what’s unflattering. It is expected. You’re shamed if you’re don’t fix fixable problems, and shamed if you do because we should promote body positivity and love the skin we are in. We are torn. We are broken. We are exhausted.
