sad poetry
The cathartic nature of poetry makes it one of the best outlets to channel feelings of sadness, emotional turmoil, grief and despair.
Dear Mr. Graveyard Keeper
Dear Mr. Graveyard Keeper I hope your day is not peaceful, I hope that when you wake up your kitchen will catch on fire, or your car breaks down, maybe your wife decides she wants a divorce. I hope your day will not let you be happy so when you go to work at night and start making your rounds, checking headstones, clearing dead flowers, and when you eventually see the tree, you will see me. my limbs wrapped around the tree like a vine that had always been there. you will see my empty eyes, my pale decaying skin, and it will not be the worst part of your day. Please do not try to pry me away from the bark that lets me see the sky. Do not lay me to rest for I am not deserving of it. Let me rest here on this tree, until the worms burrow in my chest and eat what is left of who I was. I will eventually chip away like the tree is shedding me to reveal its new skin, then I ask you to please let me sink into the dirt, and you can go on, and you won’t remember seeing me, because I hope your day is not peaceful.

My sweet, sweet Keda, In my aching chest, my heart wreaks devastating havoc on my body. The pressure divides me into bits of intoxicating, melancholy pieces, and I’m left behind in a star-struck state of stupor and lovelorn tumor-like agony.

As I journey on this path unknown, I see a world so different, so new, I sense the change, the thrill, the fear, As we leave our old home, so dear.
