Cosmonautics Day Haiku
April Twelfth - Russia's Cosmonauts' Day, honoring Gagarin's first flight. *** Note: The USSR created Cosmonautics (Cosmonauts’) Day in 1962, one year after Gagarin’s historic 108-minute flight on Vostok 1, and fixed it on April 12. It is still officially celebrated in Russia and most post-Soviet countries as a professional commemorative day, but not a national holiday/day off work. In Russia, it is marked with ceremonies, exhibitions and public events across the country. It is especially important for the space industry and science communities.
