THe Dinosaurs of you
Haunt me
The Dinosaurs of you
Fill my mind with thoughts of how
Life was perfect, before you brought
Our world crashing down
Tyrannosaureses, and Velociraptors
Follow me with the teeth of your love
The only time I feel anything, anymore
Is when they sink their pain into my flesh
BABY, WHY can't you go extinct
WHY can't I forget the fossils, you left behind
In the smiles, you buried beneath my tears
Gigantosaureses, and Spinosaureses
Haunt me with every echo
Of how you made me feel alive
Every time our eyes met
Brontosauruses, and Brachiosauruses
Leave cracks in the soil of my heart
With every single, heavy footprint
Of the days when you made time, stop
Pterodactyls, and Pteranodons
Chase me into the caves of my soul
To hide from the ache that soars
With every reminder of you
The Dinosaurs
Of the love you left behind
Shake my earth with the way
You tore every part of me, apart
BABY, WHY couldn't you take your memory
When you told me goodbye

Ahh but those fossils really are precious!
Gosh this hit me so hard! I too wish when people leave, they would take all their memories with them. I don't want it to fossilise and remain with me forever. Loved your poem!
"Brontosauruses, and Brachiosauruses / Leave cracks in the soil of my heart". What a pair of lines! I love how you did this poem. So cool!
