Synesthesia is just a word

experimental poetry

Synesthesia

These words

that describe

the wavelengths

that didn’t escape

that excitement

of photons

which otherwise captured

every other

flux and shape.

It left out some

to become hues

on a spectrum

bursting forth

from flowering realities

- red blue and green.

From the rainbow

that bends light

as it passes

through the lens

of angular space

and undulating time,

the countless pulses

of particles and waves

followed invisible eyes

as they travel

to their retinal fields

to further excite

the ancient mechanisms

that defined the wetware

of the occipital machinery.

It spewed images

of red blue and green

and just like that

I grasped the tangerine

as the orange sun set

flickering over the beach

of some long forgotten stretch

of black and white memories.

The moon that spread

through a silvery white

in the void beyond

the blinking lights

where sits still

the eternal darkness

of empty spatial spills

suffused thickly

with dense viscosity

of its own barren emptiness

letting go tiny pockets

of kaleidoscopic seeds

that birthed the stars-

red, blue and green.

Big yellow peaks

rose over cyan skies

and a purple sunrise

rushed to meet the eyes.

What do these words

that describe wavelengths

- the physics of light

explosions of colours

that light up the the night

surreal poetry
