What does purple sound like?

Not the word, the color

Is the saturation of violets audible?

Why do irises dance in

the off season?

Can you quarantine a carnation?

Tie a river in your hair?

The trees are telling secrets again,

in a language the pavement doesn’t understand,

wind carries them away

like they never existed.

Impressionism has a melody,

Po-Mo a jazz beat.

DaDa is death metal,

Picasso a punk rock symphony

Foie gras and caviar,

toast points with

champagne,

crème brûlée

Is a super-sized Happy Meal

an ecstatic feast?

Nothing is sadder than the interstate.
