Do not go gently into that
Sweet, sweet night
It's always the same warnings
The same terrible fears
Of my mind being overtaken
By that sweet, sweet darkness.
Within wanderings I find
A sky of grey and green
The air heavy; oppressive
The shadows heightened and deepened
By the approaching lightning.
But some days those long shadows
Are very kind and welcoming, indeed
They give me a reason to rest
Half alive and half-dreaming
In a sweet, sweet cocoon of storm clouds.
Yet those clouds are not beautiful pillows to rest my head
They are harbingers of destruction and ruin
And falling for their lies
Has become a sweet, sweet escape.
