Surviving the Fire

A short poem on surviving the dark and finding strength

I know life is hell right now
Where the gate is closed from the outside world
The fire keeps spreading
But the gate won't open

Screaming but no one seems to hear
Feeling the flames of the fire
Pulling
Pushing
Through the gate
Still won't open

Then one day
Everything seems slightly easier
 Everything seems different
Manageable

Those tears are water
And water puts out fire
That fire will ease
The gate will open

Even if it takes years
Long years
It will open

And when it does
That is when you have found your strength

This poem is about surviving through the dark times of life, trying, but while not realizing your trying is a strength. We have those tears we cry; they are our strength. It was all along; I know it's hard to believe that it seems so simple, but today I have realized that those tears were and still are my strength. After every cry, I felt slightly better.  We grow stronger when we don’t realize we are til the time we realize how far we have come.
