Surviving Frankenstein

Necessary Transformations

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

your mask won't allow you to admit that

deep down you find yourself aroused

watching as hearts and veneer cracks

as bitter tears fall, staining the ground

carelessly living fast, careening past

bombs dropping hard, without a sound

looking back now, how did it last

so cavalier, crassly profound

your hands, the master of this mayhem

you feed the monster deep within

there is no telling where or when

you'll pluck away and start again

the truth you hide, rides in your wake

a sea of broken and outcast

the frankenstein masterpieces you make

now congregate, as people gasp

the unsightly massacre now witnessed

you grin at their shock and dismay

your softest smile reveals a grimace

unwilling victims, were always prey
